Music and Art of the Philippines

Filipino Music and Art were both by the cultures that have influenced this nation migrated. The first type of music that was developed in the Philippines, indigenous music brought here by native tribes who migrated from Taiwan. There are three basic groups of indigenous music styles: Southern Styles Northern Styles, and other styles. The southern style of music, usually five different instruments, including the kulintang Agung, thegangdinagan the Dabakan and babedil. The northern styles of indigenous music reflect the Asian gong music. Their music has usually called the Gong Unbossed Gangsa. In addition to the instruments used in the southern and northern styles of music, other instruments used in the Philippines, log drums, flutes, zither, and bamboo Kudyapi.

Hispanic cultures of Spain and Mexico have a great influence on the development of Filipino music.These cultures have introduced musical forms like the Harana Kundiman and Rondalla. Most of these forms of music as a result of the merger between tribal music styles and traditional Spanish and Mexican music developed. Today, the influence of Spain and Mexico is still in the modern Filipino Music. Modern pop music in the Philippines is still a Hispanic flavor.

Filipino art has its roots in indigenous traditions and colonial imports. Asmost cultures, the Philippines, their own style of visual arts such as painting and sculpture. However, they also have their own style of movement arts such as dance. Include some of the most important artists from the Philippines, Fernando Amorsolo, David Cortes Medalla, Nunelucio Alvardao, Juan Luna, Felix Hidalgo and Rey Paz Contreras.
